Meanwhile, the 11th States and Divisions Taekwondo Competition, sponsored
by the MTF, was held here from June 29 to July 1 aiming to emerge new
generation taekwondo athletes in the country.

To upgrade the standard of Myanmar’’s taekwondo sport, the MTF opened a
Taekwondo Referee Refresher Course here last month, attended by over 40
trainees in the whole country.

The Myanmar Taekwondo Federation was founded in 1989 and since then the
Myanmar taekwondo team competed in 23 international competitions, winning
12 gold, 8 silver and 44 bronze medals.

The Myanmar taekwondo team participated 9 editions of the SEA Games since
15th SEA Games in 1989, getting one gold 5 silver and 25 bronze medals.
