Hollywood actress Lindsay Lohan arrested for drunken driving

Hollywood actress Lindsay Lohan, who recently spent more than a month in
treatment for alcoholism, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of drunken
driving and cocaine possession, police said.
The 21-year-old actress, who is already facing a drunken driving charge
in Beverly Hills, was arrested about 1:30 a.m. in the Pacific coastal
town of Santa Monica near Los Angeles.
Lohan was booked for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs,
possession of cocaine, and driving on a suspended or revoked license. She
was released after posting a 25,000-dollar bail.
In a hastily convened news briefing outside the Santa Monica police
station, a police officer told reporters that another motorist — whom
police described as the mother of Lohan’s personal assistant — had
called police on her cell phone and alleged that the actress was chasing
after her in an SUV.
Police said the other motorist and Lohan were in a parking lot and were
arguing when officers arrived.
After officers conducted their initial investigation, they determined
that Lohan was driving her vehicle under the influence. She was arrested
for driving under the influence, and transported to the Santa Monica jail.
While in the jail, officers found in her possession a small amount of
cocaine. She was charged for driving for driving under the influence, and
for possession of the cocaine, according to police.
The two passengers were questioned and released, and the actress “was
cooperative during the arrest,” police said.
Lohan was arrested in May for drunken driving after she crashed her
Mercedes in Beverly Hills. She turned herself into the Beverly Hills
Police Department just last week and was booked on those charges.
Upon her release from an alcoholism treatment center two weeks ago, Lohan
had agreed to wear a alcohol-detecting anklet.
Lohan’s recent stint at the treatment center was her second round of
treatment in less than a year. In January, she checked into a treatment
center after supposedly passing out in a hotel hallway after party thrown
for the Golden Globe Awards.
Lohan began her acting career at 10 as a child star, and have played
rebellious youth roles in films like the 2004 “Mean Girls” and this
year’s “Georgia Rules.” She just turned 21 — the legal age for alcohol
drinking in the United States, earlier this month.
